How can we live with less plastic?

Published Apr 07, 2025

REDUCE is a research project exploring how everyday plastic use can be reduced – in areas such as hygiene, leisure, and childhood.

The project brings together researchers in design, sociology, and history, along with industry partners and public organizations.

Green Leap, KTH contributes with development of preferable future scenarios that envision new, less plastic-intensive ways of living. Through methods such as backcasting, norm-critical design, and everyday life experiments, the project challenges the dominant plastic norm and explores practical alternatives through prototypes, storytelling, and participatory experimentation.
The goal is to inspire and support a shift toward more sustainable material cultures – grounded in everyday life.
